A follow-up to Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines from 2004 was in the works by 2019 after Paradox Interactive bought White Wolf (producer of the World of Darkness RPGs, including Vampire: The Masquerade), which was acquired by Paradox in 2015. Hardsuit Labs was the original creator of Bloodlines 2. However, Hardsuit Labs would no longer serve as the lead developer, and Bloodlines 2 would instead work with an undisclosed game development team, according to a February 2021 announcement from Paradox Interactive.

Bloodlines 2 has experienced several delays as a result of internal problems, even after pre-orders were made possible through a number of online video game retailers. Fans of VtM: Bloodlines may finally find some relief after what felt like an endless round of “development hell” for the game.

The rumor appears to have two main sources. Some have brought up the official World of Darkness (owned by Paradox Interactive) social media announcement of its PAX West attendance.

The Plaion.com online store listings for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 and its various editions (First Blood and Unsanctioned), which are scheduled to release on October 27, 2023, were also mentioned by some.

(Photo credit: Plaion.com)Reddit users at ther/GamingLeaksAndRumours have expressed a range of emotions in response to this rumored release date. On the one hand, there are those who are eagerly anticipating the release of this long-awaited sequel. On the other hand, given the reputation Bloodlines 2 has developed over numerous delays, some people are jaded with mistrust. The latter set of supporters is, at most, “cautiously optimistic”.

It is true that World of Darkness from Paradox Interactive has made a formal announcement about attending the forthcoming PAX West in Seattle, Washington from September 1 to 4. The Vampire: The Masquerade IP, which largely consists of the tabletop RPG and its several offshoots, like the planned VTM: Justice VR game, as well as other World of Darkness franchises like Werewolf: The Apocalypse, is what this is about.

It hasn’t been established yet whether the release date listed in the Plaion shop listings is the real one; it could simply be a placeholder, like with other titles with “coming soon” labels. Due to this, other significant online retailers like Steam and GOG have not indicated a potential release date for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2.

The World of Darkness is the setting for Vampire: The Masquerade. The Mask of the Vampire Based on the well-known tabletop roleplaying game of the same name, Bloodlines 2 is an action roleplaying video game. Players in the game create a vampire persona from one of the famous clans, including Brujah, Gangrel, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Tremere, Toreador, and Ventrue.
