The gaming community is now anticipating Thursday, December 7 for The Game Awards after this year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live featured a dazzling presentation of forthcoming video games and movies.
The Game Awards are celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, as stated during the most recent event by none other than Geoff Keighley, the show’s producer and spokesperson.
The annual event, scheduled for the prestigious Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, formerly known as the Microsoft Theater, not only honors the gaming industry’s victories from the previous year but also acts as a lighthouse for what lies ahead. Keighley, a well-known figure in the gaming industry who hosts Gamescom Opening Night Live and hosts the annual Summer Game Fest showcase, announced the news on the social media site X (previously Twitter), promising to provide more information and open ticket sales information in the coming months.

The show from the previous year was outstanding, drawing 103 million viewers from around the world. A powerful on-stage orchestra and outstanding musical performances by artists like Hozier were among the highlights. The ninth iteration of this yearly event was nothing short of a gigantic production, complete with award show, new game announcements, and celebrity guest appearances. Fans were thrilled to learn about highly anticipated games including Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2, Ken Levine’s Judas, Hades 2, a Bayonetta prequel, and Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Christopher Judge, the voice of Kratos, also gave a moving message.

Of course, Elden Ring and God of War: Ragnarok were the night’s two greatest winners. While the latter won six awards out of eleven nominations, the former won the coveted Game of the Year title and made a record.
The incarnation this year promises to be yet another unforgettable evening. The performance will be freely aired on more than 30 digital media platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, Steam, X, Facebook, and TikTok Live, much to the delight of its admirers worldwide. Although the specifics for this year are currently under wraps, anticipation is extremely strong.
