The Grand Theft Auto 6 rumor mill is spinning quicker than a tuned sports car, so hold on to your controllers, keyboard, and anything else you use to navigate the virtual streets of Los Santos.
Fan impatience, rumors, and leaks are intensifying, and according to reliable insider Tez2, Rockstar may finally be preparing to make the eagerly awaited announcement. Tez2 believes that GTA 6 will be out from the shadows “soon,” leaving us to ponder whether this marks the conclusion of a protracted, rumor-filled tunnel or just another false dawn.
Tez2 wrote on the GTA Forums that “everything seems to line up for a high likelihood of Rockstar announcing VI soon.” And when it comes to GTA leaks, Tez2 isn’t just your typical forum poster; he has a track record that is as reliable as a Kevlar vest. He expanded on his observations by saying that a hunt or collecting event in GTA Online may be a hint at GTA 6. Rockstar has already used GTA Online to foreshadow significant announcements, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see the online multiplayer service transformed into a hype train stop.
Rockstar is not the first to play with our emotions in this way. T-shirts honoring GTA 5‘s tenth anniversary became online in GTA Online earlier this year before inexplicably disappearing. The shirts, which appeared to be alien-themed and included mysterious phrases like “One day will reveal all,” stoked speculation once more. Another sign that left fans searching for hints and some claiming that this was our first ever look of GTA 6 was a UFO flying over a house in GTA Trilogy.
But here’s the really shocking part: According to Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, GTA VI could come out as early as 2024 or 2025. Does that imply that a trailer will be released soon? It’s difficult to say. Take-Two Interactive is more than just GTA and Rockstar. They have a ton of other incredibly lucrative games in their catalog, including the next BioShock game, Judas, a new Borderlands entry, and a ton of immensely successful mobile games from Zynga. Their financial outlook, while positive, may not necessarily be a neon sign screaming “GTA 6 is coming!”
To add some grit to the splendor, here is some financial reality. Take-Two anticipates that net bookings will increase significantly from $5.5 billion this year to $8 billion in the upcoming fiscal year. Don’t break out the champagne quite yet, though; that number could also be attributable to a lot of AAA games. The fiscal year consists of 12 full months; it is not a weekend.

As previously indicated, Take-Two may release a number of new games around that time, as well as re-releases of earlier classics like Bully and Grand Theft Auto 4. Not to mention that despite receiving negative reviews, the Red Dead Remaster re-release still made a ton of money.
Since at least February 2022, Grand Theft Auto 6 has been under “active development”. When contrasted to the torturous waits fans endured for games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Elder Scrolls VI, and the current game of the month, Starfield, it seems like a mere blink of an eye. The crowd, though, is growing weary and their collective patience is running thin.
Therefore, should you be anticipating a GTA 6 announcement soon? Absolutely. But should you stake your GTA in-game cash on it? Perhaps not.
