A new adventure is about to begin for the voice cast of Baldur’s Gate 3: they will be streaming a live tabletop roleplaying game called Dungeons & Dragons on Twitch.

Making waves in the video game industry, Larian Studios’ megahit role-playing game (CRPG) is based on the Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition rules set in the Forgotten Realms. Even while other video game developers and publishers view it as a “anomaly,” consumers view it as a model for what AAA games should aspire to, in addition to being a critical and financial success.

Even though BG3 is a remarkable technical feat, its success is also greatly attributed to its endearing characters and excellent voice acting. But did the voice actors from Baldur’s Gate 3 actually play D&D on a tabletop? And how would they perform as their characters in an adventure if they did? Those queries will soon get an answer, though.

The news of the live-action Dungeons & Dragons campaign, High Rollers (sometimes called High Rollers DND), including actors from Baldur’s Gate 3 Originals for the D&D TTRPG, was released. Following that, it was shared and promoted on their official social media accounts.

With the voice cast from Baldur’s Gate 3, including Samantha B. art (Karlach), Tim Downie (Gale), Jennifer English (Shadowheart), Neil Newborn (Astarion), Theo Solomon (Wyll), and Devora Wilde (Lae’zel), the proceedings will be overseen by High Rollers writer and Mark Hulmes as the DM (Dungeon Master). They will be playing as their BG3 characters, fitting in with the proper D&D stats on their character sheets.

For the live play on the High Rollers Twitch channel, the voice cast of Baldur’s Gate 3 Originals will be performing their pre-generated character sheets for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.Fans who had never played the tabletop roleplaying game before became increasingly interested in Baldur’s Gate 3 as it became an enormous hit; entire Reddit threads were devoted to talking about this common interest. Talks over whether the voice actors for Baldur’s Gate 3 had ever played the game themselves sprang from this curiosity.

It was discovered a few months earlier that the cast of the live-action Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie participated in TTRPG sessions. While Michelle Rodriguez (Holga) and Sophia Lillis (Doric) have played D&D before, some performers, including Chris Pine (Edgin), have never done so. Actual D&D plays have also been present for a while; the most well-known and significant in popularizing the TTRPG for a modern mainstream audience was Critical Role.

A societal stigma once surrounded Dungeons & Dragons play, labeling anyone involved as a “geek” (or worse during the infamous ‘Satanic Panic’ in the late 1970s to early 1980s). Today, the TTRPG is acknowledged as a pastime that fosters creativity, intellect, and social connection, and both the game and the D&D community are seen more favorably. Additionally, because to Wizards of the Coast’s partnerships with organizations, Dungeons & Dragons can now be utilized as a teaching tool that supports STEM study (science, technology, engineering, and math).

The Baldur’s Gate 3 live play oddly omits Matt Mercer (who voiced Minsc) and Tracy Wiles (Jaheira). However, it’s possible that Mercer, the DM and presenter of Critical Role, has plans for the beloved Rashemaar ranger in the future.

Sadly, Minsc (voiced by Matt Mercer) and Jaheira (Tracy Wiles), two iconic characters from Baldur’s Gate 3, are not present. But may Mercer be planning anything special for Critical Role?Whatever the case, it seems that the Originals from Baldur’s Gate 3 are eager to go on their next journey into the Forgotten Realms (for real this time). Even some BTS pictures and videos of the members of the cast were posted on social media by Neil Newborn and Devora Wilde.
