We’ve known for a long that Modern Warfare 3 will include the Verdansk map from Warzone in some capacity. Players are actually returning to a portion of the battle royale area, as was just confirmed by the expanded gameplay footage unveiled at Gamescom 2023.
Activision Blizzard debuted the first cinematic gameplay trailer for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 sequel at Gamescom Opening Night. The teaser introduces Taskforce 141’s first operation, “Operation 627,” in which it conducts an amphibious raid on “The Gulag.” Fans of Warzone will immediately identify the spot because it appears on the Verdansk map.
The elite military force emerges from a submersible in the gameplay trailer and climbs the prison’s seashore wall. To save a person from the Gulag, the crew travels to the underground facility.
“Operation 627” appears to be a reference to an earlier Call of Duty mission with the same name from Modern Warfare 2 from 2009. The player is tasked with rescuing someone from a Russian prison during the mission, and it turns out to be Captain Price. The Modern Warfare 2 mission had a big influence on the showers in the Gulag from Warzone.
It appears that Price will once more be apprehended by in Modern Warfare 3. Since he is not a part of the trailer, it is reasonable to believe that he is the hostage.

Activision further disclosedOpen-combat missions are a new addition to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series. Players in open-combat missions have a choice in how they go through a level. While most of the time, stealth would be the best course of action, operators have the choice to launch a full-on attack. For these open-combat missions, players will select their own loadouts of guns, gear, and even killstreaks.
The presenters also briefly touched on Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer and zombies features. The forthcoming release will include the largest zombie map ever as well as 16 multiplayer maps from the first Modern Warfare 2. An open-world extraction shooter with a PvE-only experience will be the zombies game mode.
Additionally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have an official demonstration event on November 5, according to Activision. Before the game is launched, fans will get another opportunity to check out the multiplayer and zombie gameplay for the latest installment at the upcoming event.
On November 10, 2023, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
